Sharmila Uprety, a newsreader/reporter of Nepal – 1 Television, is now a Newsreader /host/reporter of (STV) Sagarmatha Television. STV is the first and only Nepali television program in America (www.nepaltvusa.com). Ms. Uprety was very interested in journalism, when she was at the high school. She started writing poems, articles and debate by then. She has begun her professional journalism career at Kathmandu, Nepal in 1998, and then moved to New Delhi with Nepal – 1 Television in 2003.
Ms. Uprety joined Sagarmatha Television in March of 2006 and immediately began anchoring/reporting on various programs including community’s activities, news, interviews etc. While she was with Nepal-1 Television in New Delhi, India, she used to covered major breaking news, stories and reports from various issues from Nepal. While she was in Nepal and India, she was affiliated with various different media associations in Nepal and including South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) in India, and other organizations.

Ms. Uprety now, has become a member of various Nepali communities’ organizations including NECC, ANWA, Nepali School, NPPA, NOA, ANA, ANS etc., in America. She is also a part time host for Image in Asia Television, (www.asianocean.com) and elected executive board member of Nepalese American Journalist Association (NEAJA). Ms. Uprety is writing articles and poems for Vishow Sandesh, Nepalipost.com, Nepalhorizons.com and other media. Ms. Uprety is frequently sending her articles and news to Nepali presses in Nepal.
